DOCK SLIPS: This marina offers 4,000’ of frontage on the Genesee River with 125 fixed and 25 floating dock slips across 22 acres of upland. All slips have potable water and electric, with restroom and shower facilities located throughout the property.
SLIPS WITH LAND AND SHEDS: This marina is unique because some of its slips have an adjacent land where our boaters can install storage sheds, decks, or pergolas providing an atmosphere similar to camping or a cottage.
LOCATION: Gibbs Marine is in the City of Rochester, located on the west side of Genesee River south of the O’Rourke bridge and accessed off Lake Avenue via Petten Street. We are located on the right or south side of Petten Street where it meets the Genesee River. River Street Marine, which we also operate, is on the left or the north side of Petten Street. Since the marina is a half mile inland it is well protected from storm surges on the lake. Elevated land on both sides of the river gives the marina good protection from the wind. Half of our slips are located off the river in a basin, where there are no river currents to deal with when docking.
STORAGE & HAULING: We have 12 acres of land available for boat storage, including a 25,000 square foot indoor storage building with 24’ inside height. We have a 30 ton (66,000 pounds) and 19 ton (41,800 pounds) mobile travelifts as well as several hydraulic transport trailers. We currently do not transport boats over the road, so we refer our customers to haulers that we work with regularly.
SERVICES: This is a full-service marina. We offer hauling, launching, and winterization to customers that dock or store with us for the winter. We have ethanol free 90 Octane Gasoline and Diesel. Mechanical repairs are available to current slip customers on a first come first served basis to keep as many of them on the water as possible. We were previously a Mercury, MerCruiser, and Volvo Penta dealer so we have technicians that were factory trained to use the special tooling required for many of today's complex propulsion systems.
AMENITIES: Within a few minutes’ drive by auto you will find: a dozen restaurants, a dozen bars, two convenient stores, a grocery store, 6 pizza shops, Abbots, and Lake Ontario Beach Park.
LAND IMPROVEMENTS IN PROGRESS: The marina is participating in NY State’s Brownfield Cleanup Program. The final phase of this program is to cap 12 acres of the marina with a cover system which will be crushed stone or crushed concrete. This work began April 2018 and will continue in small areas at a time to minimize impact to our boaters.
DOCK IMPROVEMENTS IN PROGRESS: We replaced some of our fixed docks with floating docks. We obtained quotes in early 2020 to replace our fixed docks with a new floating system. We paused this process to see if the IJC will continue to deviate from plan 2014 and return to more historic or lower water levels.
SHORELINE IMPROVEMENTS IN PROGRESS: We have obtained permission February 2019 to install rip rap along our shoreline to prevent erosion. During this process we will be removing many of the decks over the water and dredging the dock slips.
